First, make sure your pixel is live
The leads setup only works once the pixel is on your estimator and the Lead event is firing. For Next Estimate customers, we install that for you. If you're not sure it's live, check with us before you start, or this step won't have anything to optimize for.
A quick note on your current ad
If your ad is set to "link clicks" right now, that's fine. It sends people to your estimator and gathers data while you set this up. Leave it running. You'll turn it off at the end, once the new version is working.
The steps
- Leave your current ad running. Don't pause or edit it.
- Open Meta Ads Manager on a computer and click Create. The leads setup doesn't work well on a phone.
- For the goal, choose Leads.
- Set the conversion location to Website. Not instant forms. You want people landing on your estimator.
- In the ad set, find Conversion event. Choose your Pixel, then choose the Lead event. That's the one that fires when a homeowner finishes the estimator.
- Use the same budget and audience as your current ad.
- At the ad step, choose Use existing post and pick the ad you're already running. Same creative, no rebuild.
- Publish. Let the new campaign run next to your current one for a few days. Once it's bringing in leads at a price you're happy with, pause the old link-clicks campaign and move that budget over.
If you'd rather watch or read it
Meta changes button names often. If a screen looks different, the words that matter are Leads, Website, and Lead.
